U.S. Motor Grader

PlusModel 1/35 U.S. Motor Grader

This machine was originally introduced as the "Caterpillar Diesel No. 12 Auto Patrol" in the summer of 1938, but was soon renamed as a "Motor Grader" just one year later.
Weighing in at 20,360 pounds, the No. 12 Auto Patrol featured a 12-foot blade, had six forward speeds and two reverse speeds. This machine, as well as other auto patrol models, was primarily used in the building of roads and snow removal.
The No. 12 Motor Grader has seen multiple advancements over the past 75 years. Caterpillar introduced articulated frames into its Motor Grader product line in 1973 with the 12G. The 12H increased productivity even further with a new electronically controlled eight-speed transmission and a redesigned cab providing operators with a better view when it was released in 1995.
The No. 12 Motor Grader is currently being produced at the North Little Rock Facility, Caterpillar Brasil Ltd. and Caterpillar Suzhou Company Ltd.

Having in hand the model of the year (Nuremberg Toy Fair / Model Fan Award “Model of the Year” ) for a review is not an easy duty.
Must be be strict though righteous , with clear priorities and without excuses to avoid errors in your judgment and not wrong , not to over- judge the kit , that is just right of you .
So , lets see what we have here :

A well informed , sturdy and rather small in relation to the content box , is the first impression . A photo of the finished model is on the face together with all the necessary informations like model’s type , scale , number of parts , type of model (resin , vac etc) , contents etc .
In the box , one CD and the instructions leaflet welcomes us . Nice wrapped are seven bags in several sizes , containing not less than 236 resin parts , plus some photo etched .

A piece of brass wire is provided for making two hydraulic lines and a sheet of decals gives all the necessary for making two different vehicles .

The overall impress is closed with a photo CD , that provides many pictures of the building process , solving every possible query that exists in relation to the -otherwise- very detailed instruction manual .

The bags are categorized depending on their content , and every one have the parts for that block of the model , like chassis and front directional system , engine and transmission , driver’s cabin , working mechanism etc .
All the parts are perfectly casting , very clear and accurate , nothing bend and no one bubble or hard flash on any part is present , even on the smallest . All the parts are on their casting blocks , and all are numbered .

Light beams are provided in crystal clear resin , and the photo etched fret is at the highest quality , providing a lot of useful parts .

At the time of writing this review , I have already started building this kit , and the good news are still coming . Fitting is beyond any expectation , far and away better than any resin kit have gone from my bench - and was many - and the making of is a really delight .
Can we talk for a long time about this kit , describing all the big , small and smallest details on every single piece , but my opinion is better wait some time and soon will post a full article about building this beautiful kit . So , is rightly proclaimed as “The kit of the Year” ? Looking from a specific angle -relatively limited production , special theme , resin kit etc- I believe yes , it is one of the best kits of the year and why not , the best in their category .
Very highly recommended !
Thanks to PlusModel for the provided sample .
